Nice to meet US
Our Story
At Shine a Life, we believe in the transformative power of the performing arts. Our mission is simple yet profound: to create joyful, empowering moments where children feel free to express their true selves. Located in the historic and prestigious Palácio Nacional da Ajuda in Lisbon, Portugal, we provide a magical space where children engage with the arts through musical theatre, dance, and performance.
Founded by Emily Lancaster, a passionate performer, musician, linguist and educator, our programs are designed to give children the confidence, skills, and joy to pursue their dreams, whatever they may be. Shine a Life offers an environment where every child is encouraged to shine—no dream is too big, and no voice too small. Shine a Life is a beacon for children to embrace their talents and follow their dreams without limits.
Through our musical theatre workshops held every Saturday and our intensive holiday camps, children not only learn how to sing, act, and dance, but also connect with cultural heritage, engage with live instruments, and develop important life skills like memory, teamwork, and physical expression. Whether it’s the joy of performing in the Palace’s grand halls or the thrill of putting on a full musical production, we aim to nurture the talent and creativity of the next generation of performers, thinkers, and dreamers.
We provide a safe, supportive, and sophisticated space where every child feel comfortable in expressing themselves and learn the power of storytelling through music and movement.
Our Values:
Confidence: We empower children to be themselves and follow their dreams.
Excellence: We strive for the highest quality in every class, performance, and event.
Creativity: We encourage children to think creatively and explore the world of arts and culture.
Heritage: We connect the past with the future through cultural learning and live performances in a historic setting, inspired by Portugal’s last Royal Family.
Joy: Above all, we aim to create moments of happiness and self-expression for every child who joins us.
