Terms & Conditions
1. Late Pick-Up Policy
We understand that delays happen occasionally. However, consistent late pick-ups have a significant impact on our team’s time and energy.
A grace period of 10 minutes is offered after the scheduled pick-up time.
After this, a late fee of €5 will apply, plus €1 per additional minute.
Any extra time will be invoiced at the end of the program: weekly for holiday camps and monthly for Saturday workshops.
We also offer an early drop-off / late pick-up service at our holiday camps, which can be arranged in advance for an additional cost.
2. Payment Terms
To secure your child’s place:
50% upfront payment is required at the time of booking.
The remaining 50% is due:
At the start of the course (Saturday workshops)
30 calendar days before the start of the program (holiday camps)
Failure to complete payment may result in your child’s place being offered to another student.
3. Cancellation & Refund Policy
50% of the course fee is non-refundable.
The remaining 50% is refundable only in cases of medical or family emergencies, and supporting documentation may be requested.
Please notify us of cancellations as early as possible so we may reallocate the spot.
4. Behaviour & Safety Guidelines
Our courses take place in a national monument, requiring appropriate conduct to preserve the historic setting.
No running, shouting, or touching artifacts.
Children must wear footwear and/or socks at all times—bare feet are not permitted indoors.
Children should wear comfortable clothing and easy-to-remove shoes, and bring a snack and water bottle each day.
We must be informed in advance of any dietary restrictions, medical conditions, or learning needs.
5. Media Consent
Our sign-up forms include a clause asking for parental consent to record and use your child’s image, voice, and performance for promotional purposes such as:

6. Insurance & Legal Info
All participants are covered under accident insurance with Fidelidade, included in the activity fee.
In accordance with Article 9, No. 19 of the Portuguese VAT Code (CIVA), extra-curricular and holiday camp activities for children are exempt from VAT, and invoices are issued at 0% VAT.

Prior to each program, parents receive an email with key info. For holiday camps, we create a parent WhatsApp groupwhere you can communicate with the team and receive photos and videos throughout the day.
8. Absence Policy
We do not offer refunds or make-up classes for absences.
We ask families to support their children’s progress by prioritizing commitment and assiduity.
9. Parental Responsibility
Children must be dropped off and picked up by a parent or designated guardian.
If someone else is collecting your child, we must be informed in advance.
10. Sickness Policy
To protect the health of all participants, children with contagious illnesses must remain at home.
In such cases, we can issue a refund for the missed workshop.
11. What’s Included / Not Included
Included:
All arts & crafts materials
Printed scripts at holiday camps
PDF scripts emailed to parents for Saturday workshops
Not Included:
Meals (we have onsite facilities to heat up food from home or to purchase meals at an additional cost)
You may be asked to bring old clothing or recycled materials for costume/set design during camps
12. Venue Use & Schedule Changes
Please note that all Shine a Life programs held at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda are subject to change. As the Palace is an official venue used by the President and Government of Portugal, last-minute changes may occur due to state events or protocol.
In the event of a scheduling conflict or venue unavailability, Shine a Life will make every effort to provide an alternative location or reschedule the session to a future date. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility in helping us navigate this unique and prestigious setting.
