Easter Sunday at Killruddery

Killruddery House and Garden's Easter Challenge 2017 was truly the best event for children that Sienna and I have ever been to! It was a magical, exciting and educational experience and had lovely details from start to finish. What's more, Killruddery runs events all year long for all ages (I've heard the Halloween event is also exceptional with scarecrow-building and pumpkin-carving!) and is also a venue for weddings, parties and more. (Book your tickets in advance as these events sell out quickly!).

Each child received a beautifully-illustrated Easter Challenge card with instructions and reward stamps.

The start of Killruddery's Alice in Wonderland-themed Easter egg hunt took us under a stunning arch of Magnolias. Killruddery, known as "the garden of Ireland", overlooks the Little Sugar Loaf mountain in County Wicklow and is simply a lovely place to enjoy being in the countryside with your little one.

Each child needed an Easter basket for their findings, of course! We were led into the Fruit Room Studio for a crafts session where Sienna enjoyed cutting, glueing and decorating her basket. The children could then place a bed of hay inside their baskets (every single detail really was just so well thought out!).

The Fruit Room Studio itself hosts ME + THE MOON drop-in art workshops and birthday parties with activities such as painting, collage, clay and typography!

The next two (out of a total of five) challenges led the children through the grounds to pens of chicks and lambs. I love how the event wasn't just about the chocolate! It encouraged the children to walk across the extensive gardens and learn about the baby animals that arrive with Spring!

We then arrived at a Mad Hatter (Easter-inspired) Tea Party where each child could meet and greet the Mad Hatter himself.

The final challenge (whilst the Easter Bunny filled each child's basket with chocolate eggs!) was an egg and spoon race against the (human) Easter Chick!

Sienna and her friend Camila loved the Easter Challenge!

And when we went back to collect the baskets I had my very own happy little Easter Chick! 🐣

We ended our visit with coffees and babyccinos in the café (I especially loved how all of the disposable cutlery and packaging are biodegradable - by Vegware), and a play in the giant sandpit in the walled garden.

Thank you Killruddery for having us and for such a wonderful event! Killruddary House and Gardens are just a 40 minute drive from Dublin so please stop by if you are in the area - you will not be disappointed!
